A modern data center design should deliver high availability, predictable performance, strong segmentation/security, and automation-ready operations while supporting virtualization, containers, storage, and critical apps. Architecturally, this typically means a resilient leaf–spine or core/aggregation network, clear traffic separation (production, management, storage, backup, and DMZ), and standardized routing, addressing, and policy so the environment scales cleanly and stays easy to operate.

Equally critical is the physical build: a disciplined rack-and-stack plan, power and cooling layout, and structured cabling that reduces risk and speeds troubleshooting. This includes rack elevations, RU placement, redundant power feeds (A/B), ToR placement, patch panels, fiber/copper standards, consistent labeling, cable management, and full as-built documentation. Recommendation: execute in phases—rack/stack + cabling, base network, security controls, then workload onboarding—validated with acceptance tests (link validation, failover, performance baselines, and documentation handover)
